SOFTWARE ENGINEER

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND CHARACTERISTICS:

Embedded-system software analysis, design, implementation and test.
Individual contributor able to take ownership for designing and developing new aspects of an evolving product line.  Able to make solutions work within an existing product architecture as well as developing original designs.  Has personal development process which supports industry standard design and maintainability characteristics.
Able to analyze existing software baseline to contribute to software maintenance and configuration management, as well as identify future migration pathways.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

C and C++, x86 and ARM assembly language, embedded system Real Time Operating Systems (smx and uC/OS), hardware interfaces and drivers, communication and device protocols (ATAPI, USB).

 


HARDWARE ENGINEER

JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for an experienced Hardware Engineer to develop board level solutions for our next generation of products. Provide technical leadership to a team and work in concert with a project manager to design board and box-level products that are rich in video and signal processing functionality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop board and box level solutions for a growing video product line.
  • Provide technical leadership to a project team, including architectural definition, design assistance to project team, specification & design reviews, debugging support, verification and regulatory oversight, and release to production.
  • Analyze system requirements, review chip specifications, determine design approach & unit test requirements, and write hardware design specifications.
  • Research & identify components, create library symbols, capture schematics, write layout instructions, support inside or outside PCB layout including all reviews.
  • Coordinate long lead items, kitting, fabs & assembly of prototype PCBAs.
  • Prioritize, schedule, track, and coordinate the development, verification and release of your design work with other project team members and project managers.
  • Verify hardware functionality both in your own test environment as well as in conjunction with the rest of the project team and system test engineers.
  • Design for and achieve required regulatory and safety certification.
  • Effectively communicate ideas, objectives and plans both internally and outside the Hardware team, including presentations to company management.

QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

  • PC board design, preferably using Pads PCB layout tool, able to do multi-layer high density board layout with fine pitch BGAs.
  • Schematic design.
  • Board level troubleshooting.
  • System test experience; software and hardware functionality.
  • Verilog experience familiar with Xilinx and Alterra development environments.
  • Embedded software experience, familiarity with ARM development tools and x86 processors very beneficial.

INSIDE SALES

JOB SUMMARY:
Receives (by telephone, fax or email) requests for quotations, orders, and lead times from customers. Makes quotations on standard items, writes orders, and relays pertinent order information to customers. He/she will coordinate with other departments in handling purchase orders and providing service to customers. Performs duties with marketing department where customer contact is a prime responsibility.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Receives telephone requests for price quotations, purchase orders, order changes, adjustments, and cancellations directly from domestic customers, original equipment manufacturers, and distributors. Achieves and maintains rapport with customers and works to give them the best possible service.
  • Uses a CRM database to retrieve customer information, the status of purchase orders, and to make changes on customer purchase orders. Ensures that correct codes are used for retrieving and inputting information.
  • Follows up on inquiries by checking computer runs on CRT for delivery information.
  • Handles the needs of sales representatives and customers.
  • Makes price quotations immediately by phone on price book items. 
  • Contacts distributors or checks computer printouts sent to us by customers to locate requested items in order to meet customer's delivery requirements. Relays this information to customer.
  • Maintains files of active orders and posts activity such as change notices, scheduling changes, partial shipments, and credit changes.
  • Prepares paperwork (original purchase order, copies of invoice, and return goods memo) to be given to accounting department for credit or debit to be issued.

 SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

  • Supervised by Director of Sales.
  • Performs semi-routine duties where some judgment is required when communicating with customers, sales representatives, and inter-company personnel. Work is performed under defined and uniform procedures.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 3-5 years inside sales
  • Experience working with reps and dealers
  • B to B selling of technical products
  • Meeting and exceeding sales goals
